#1 The Philosopher Queen Mary Warnock (presented by Dr. Gulzaar Barn)

In the Philosopher Queens Seminar Series we learn about and discuss the work of philosophers from the book “Philosopher Queens” (ed. by Rebecca Buxton and Lisa Whiting, Unbound, 2020). The aim of this series is to introduce the audience, especially undergrad students, to the work of female philosophers and to bring attention to the issue of epistemic and structural injustice within the academic philosophy and philosophical ‘canon’. By asking contributors of the “Philosopher Queens” to participate in this event, we also wish to promote contemporary underrepresented philosophers.

Philosopher Queens Seminar Series #1

Mary Warnock

Presented by Dr. Gulzaar Barn

In this first edition of the Philosopher Queens Seminar Series we will learn about Mary Warnock, an English moral philosopher (1924–2019), known for her work on education and fertility treatments.

The seminar starts with a presentation by Dr. Gulzaar Barn (Utrecht University) who will introduce us to the life and work of Mary Warnock, followed by an open discussion based on the talk and a (optional) pre-circulated text.
